Surcharges for transportation on DFDS Seaways Esbjerg - Harwich ferries

DFDS Seaways closely follows the development of bunker prices and the USD rate of exchange. In order to compensate for fluctuations in the cost of these, DFDS Seaways charges a surcharge or Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF).

The additional cost for low sulphur fuel oil (as required by SECA and the Marpol Convention) is also included in the Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF).

  • March 2012 = 37,59%
  • April 2012 = 40,18%
  • May 2012 = 40,92%

No CAF is applied on this route.

Surcharges for electrical connections onboard the vessel are DKK 510/unit (plug-in surcharge) and electrical connections on terminal are charged according to local terminal conditions and tariffs.

Hazardous surcharges (excluding class 1 & 7) are DKK 750/unit.

  • Class 1 & 7 are not accepted on this route.

Abnormal loads

  • For trailers longer than 14 metres,truck/trailers longer than 17 metres, containers/tank-containers/flats longer than 20', 30' or 40' additional rates are given on application.
  • For units exceeding 2.8 metres in width the following surcharges shall apply: (Excess width calculations must be done on total unit length.)

    Max Width 2.80m
    -     2.81m - 3.00m - Basic rate +50%
    -     3.01m - 3.30m - Basic rate +75%
    -     3.31m - 3.50m - Basic rate +100%
    -     Over 3.51m (rates on application)

  • For units over 4.2m high additional rates are given on application.
  • The gross weight for selfdrives/trailers/flats/containers marked on each unit must not be exceeded. This must also conform to current government road/rail regulations. If this is found not to be so, discharge will be at Shipper's expense.
  • The shipment of units exceeding 35 tons is subject to prior approval, with additional rates given on application.
  • Delivery times for abnormal loads and units that require crane lifts should be agreed and booked with the local office.
