Surcharges for transportation on DFDS Seaways Brevik - Ghent ferries

DFDS Seaways closely follows the development of bunker prices and the USD rate of exchange. In order to compensate for fluctuations in the cost of these, DFDS Seaways charges a surcharge or Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF).

The additional cost for low sulphur fuel oil (as required by SECA and the Marpol Convention) is also included in the Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF).

Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF %)

  • May 2012 = 16.34%
  • June 2012 = 15.62%

No CAF is applied on this route.

Electrical connections on board the vessel are subject to € 25 charge per unit (plug-in surcharge) and electrical connections on terminal are charged according to local terminal conditions and tariffs.

Norway Harbour dues are charged as per local port authority requirement. The charges are based per tonne or fixed unit cost. Please contact your local office to check price levels

Hazardous surcharges

Surcharges for the shipment of hazardous goods (excluding class 1 & 7) are 45€/unit.

Surcharges for Class 1 (explosives) are unique in that the type of packing frequently has decisive effect on the hazard and, therefore, on the assignment to a particular hazard division. The five hazard divisions are: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5.

  • 1.3 & 1.4: Substances and articles which have a fire hazard and/or a minor blast or a minor projection hazard (though not a mass explosion hazard), or no significant hazard = DSG +50%
  • 1.1, 1.2 & 1.5 Substances and articles that have a mass explosion or projection hazard = DSG +100%
  • Extra costs, such as attendance of fire brigade or any other special attendance, will be charged for separately.

The Dangerous Goods surcharge (DGS) is not subject to BAF and CAF.
