The ship was the first in a series of three built at Fincantieri Cantieri Navali in Ancona, Italy. They were purposely built to be used in DFDS Seaways North Sea traffic and have further increased the reliability, reduced the lead-time and given high flexibility to combinations of cargo mix as well as improved the overall transport quality of DFDS Seaways services.
