We now offer two choices to cross the Channel from Dover.
Our Dover - Calais and Dover - Dunkirk services are particularly attractive for driver-accompanied traffic, also offering limited space for unaccompanied trailers.
We offer a total of 44 departures a day from Dover, Dunkirk or Calais.
We provide a pre booking on a time specific sailing or will ship vehicles on a turn up and go basis.
Let us pre check your hazardous shipments, ensuring a smoother and quick check-in process on arrival at the ports.

Hazardous cargo
All vehicles carrying Dangerous Goods must have least 2 lashing rings attached to each side the main frame of the chassis, or sufficient lashing points to enable secure lashing to the ships deck. If the vehicle does not comply with the IMO/MCA rules for transport of Dangerous Goods on Ro-Pax vessels, DFDS will not allow this vehicle to ship.
- DFDS Seaways reserve the right to apply surcharges for the carriage of any Hazardous shipments.
- All vehicles carrying hazardous goods MUST be pre advised 4 hours prior to vehicle arriving at the port of departure
- Pre-booked hazardous traffic must be checked in 2 hours prior to scheduled time of departure.
- All unaccompanied trailers must be checked in 1 1/2 hours prior to scheduled time of departure.
- Time specific Accompanied & non-hazardous traffic must be checked in 1 hour before departure
Abnormal loads Dover - Calais
An abnormal load shipping via our Dover- Calais route is anything that EXCEEDS ANY of the following:
- A Height exceeding 4.4 metres and/or
- A width exceeding 3 metres and/or
- A Length exceeding 20 metres and/or
- A weight greater than 44 tons.
On our Dover - Calais route DFDS limites in terms of vehicle size are :
- Maximum height 4.4m
- Maximum Width 5.0m
- Maximum length 26m
An excess width surcharge will be applied to all vehicles greater 2.5 metres.

We fully understand and appreciate the needs of our regular freight customers, therefore whilst onboard our vessels we are pleased to offer the Road Kings lounge and restaurant as designated accommodation for our freight drivers.
